Apparently the lyrics to this song weren’t included in the album’s original release, so this translation is brought to you by a transcription put together in 2015. Many thanks to the Japanese NicoNico community, Nii Chii, Eiki, and Halja, who all contributed to the final product!

I suppose you could say this about a lot of Shibayan’s arrangements, but this one is really quirky. I tried to convey the fragmented nature of the lyrics and the song’s quirkiness as a whole in my translation [I also chose to set pretty much the whole thing in the present tense for the same reason]. Of course, I need to stress that this is based on a transcription – please let me know if you have any corrections or suggestions 🙂 It would be cool if the translation was also a community effort, like the transcription.

Translation

The two shadows spin their tale.
Forgetting, I uncover the black-haired one.
The grains of sand rain down in this dream
And the black-haired one’s nectar… drips down.

I dance with the flowers, and continue to float.
Evening rain falls from the September sky.
My clumsy fingers, and the white nape of your neck…
The dream continues. We’re fastened together.

The five shadows (Myon!)
Dance in the street at night (Myon!)
During this transient dream. (Myon!)
Flowing through the sky…
Cold rain falls (Myon!)
Before the hydrangeas. (Myon!)
I pass by the girl I saw in my dream.

The two pens spin their tale.
Forgetting, I open the dream’s curtains.
The drops trace down the saké cup.
My second summer’s love is like the first. (1)

I dance in a dream, with time twined ‘round me.
My white hair falls, and I feel the water.
My clumsy fingers trace along the path.
The dream continues. They left their mark.

I dance with the flowers, and continue to float.
The fifth daybreak is clouded white.
With my clumsy fingers, I trace a circle.
It’s a dream. I’m linked once more to a dream.

The two shadows spin their tale.
Forgetting, I uncover the black-haired one.
The grains of sand rain down in this dream.
Until we dance down, we’re tied together…

The five shadows (Myon!)
Dance in the street at night (Myon!)
During this transient dream. (Myon!)
They disappeared somewhere…
Cold rain falls (Myon!)
Before the hydrangeas. (Myon!)
The girl I saw in my dream isn’t here anymore.

Translator’s note

(1) It’s likely that ひと夏 (hitonatsu, One summer) is a shortened form of ひと夏の恋 (hitonatsu no koi, One summer’s love).
