This time, it’s Marisa’s turn to lay her secrets bare. The lyrics are split between the two booklet pages the night scene (italics) and the day scene (normal).

Anyway, what is ‘Eversion’? Well, it’s apparently the process of turning inside-out. It’s also a form of defence used by sea cucumbers in which they spit out their internal organs, but I don’t think that’s the intended meaning here…

RD also wrote a few things about this song on Twitter, including “I feel like I can’t really recommend this song to people who like Marisa.” (なんかこの曲やっぱり魔理沙好きな人にはお勧めできない気がしてる)

RD has his own view of Marisa, and he raised an interesting point about her name on Twitter. The ‘Ma’ 魔 in her name literally means ‘demon,’ so he twisted her name around in a sort of wordplay: “The demon of Risa Kirisame” (霧雨理沙の魔). I think this is deeply linked to this song, especially since it deals with the superstitious belief that stepping on a young woman’s shadow will turn them into a demon. Shadows play a big part in this song, but bear in mind that its Japanese word 影 (kage) can also be used to refer to someone’s figure or form. Anyway, that’s all for the contextual information this time! Hopefully it all comes together and makes sense.
