Original theme: The Gensokyo the Gods Loved [

A song about unrequited love (or at least, that’s what I think). I just want to say once more how much I love this album! It’s great.

Empty Time

*I miss you 苦しかった
Baby, I’m lost without you…
I promise you 忘れない
Baby, I’m lost without you

Empty Heart

Empty Time

Translation

I told you I loved you
While looking at the landscape as the sun set…
I started walking. Since then, time has been frozen – empty time.

*I miss you. It hurt so much.
Baby, I’m lost without you…
I promise you, I won’t forget.
Baby I’m lost without you…

The first time was chance, then we were tied together.
We were led by something we couldn’t see.

When the tender breeze
Gently stole away my memories,
I was supposed to rest in peace.

You know nothing about me.
You know nothing about this illusion.
I loved you as if in a trance. We were lovers one day, with empty hearts.

Like in my childish days,
I became aware of nameless feelings
And hid them, thinking they were nothing at all.

Repeat *

I spun mundane words into a story
Wanting to tell you how I felt.

Twilight. I loiter while the cicadas cry.

I wanted things to stay like this forever,
Though I should have known
I couldn’t stay by your side.

You know nothing about the world.
You know nothing about this illusion.
I noticed. Since then, time has been frozen – empty time.

I told you I loved you
While looking at the landscape as the sun set…
I started walking, alone, acting like nothing had happened.

Repeat *

I think there can be many grammatical interpretations of 「あなたが好きだと言った」.
I first interpreted as 1, and your interpretation seems like 2. All could work.

    1. “You” once told that “you” liked the landscape
In this interpretation, “I” is looking at the landscape which recalls her/his memories.

    2. “I” once told you “I love you.”, while looking at the landscape

    3. “I” have said “I love you.” now, while looking at the landscape
“I” is looking at a sentimental landscape and talking to herself/himself.

    4. “I” once said “I love you.” to “you” at the landscape
I feel this is little awkward grammatically, because I think 「景色」 is not a thing where we do something, but a thing we look from another place, as like the third person.
What we can imagine is like 1.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thanks for the comment! I didn’t realise there were so many different ways of looking at the same section – it definitely makes me happy to see that there are so many alternate ways we can look at this song 🙂
