I’m actually getting some serious shuriken vibes from these lyrics, and I’m pretty pleased about that. Of course, an unfortunate side effect is that I’m not quite sure what’s actually going on! Still, let the images wash over you, as Ayo’s wonderful voice brings out the hidden emotions in this track…
Also, ticat confirmed on Twitter that there will be a sequel of sorts to this song. So… look out for it in a future album! Perhaps I’ll alter my translation of this song depending on what the sequel’s like…
A figure stood beyond the door I peeked through.
Who half-extinguished the lamp?
I can’t even tell what the spring butterflies look like.
The trap I intended to set was too inadequate.
A resemblance buds from the frozen summer by chance.
Though I set my heart on it, I cannot beat the sun.
Those people with a screw loose. (The first small drumbeat)
can no longer return from the maze of thought. (The second drumbeat)
They can’t go home. (The third drumbeat.) They head towards the distant future…
In the herbarium portal, flowers bloom all around.
They will someday wither, and then…
Even if you were to turn to ash tomorrow,
Would you wish to be eternal and stay as you are right now?
The repeated historical records wash away the same four seasons.
Flowers bloom without withering inside the sealed vase.
Who believed in eternity?
Time passes by at the speed of autumn
and clouds linger over the window I passed.
I discovered (a treasure). It’s deified stardust (from winter)
If I snatch away a seam in the old knot…
Even if the wedge in the door cannot be removed,
If I touched it—
Along with light that will not reach tomorrow,
The flower breathes without withering in its vase.
I don’t want to become omniscient
so I will not turn this star.
It’s forbidden to look.
The storyteller speaks of extinguished fate.
Is it okay to tear down common sense, as spoken by someone else,
And lay it all bare?
Ah… I want you to notice…
The moment they reach out faintly tomorrow
the buds of all those paths will open.
I walked along those paths, so close, so far. It was dazzling.
From this darkness, void of people,
I waited for you to return. You, the heroes, knocking at the door.
I mustn’t have given any orders, but something was in the hand reaching back
and in the opened hand—
Even if the door you peep through is empty
you won’t look back.
