I originally translated the title as ‘The Wedding Festival’ (which to the best of my knowledge was the official translation at the time). Since then, the title has changed to ‘The Wedding Celebration.’

The first part of the title 婚 (kon) is the same one seen in 結婚 (kekkon, wedding).

An alternative reading of the first part of the title (婚) is yobai. This refers to the act of sneaking into a woman’s bedroom at night to make love with her.

I think the meaning of 婚 is generally related to marriage, so maybe that’s why the official title is the Wedding Festival. Also, the Vocaloid Lyrics wiki has the title read as konsai.

Apparently, Maryam the God-Bearer is a reference to Mary. Since Abuse already has a song called Christ (which is about Ote), this song must be about Ote’s parents? Although I wonder if the wedding is supposed to be happy, given part of the lyrics and the funeral photograph(?) in the video.

  Thanks for that! Looking at it again I now see why the official translation is ‘The Wedding Festival’. I was only looking at the よばい part of 婚, thinking the title was yobaimatsuri, which meant I missed the こん /wedding part of it!
  
  I love how so many Vocaloid songs have a cohesive narrative behind them, telling the story across several parts. If we assume that Mary is Ote’s mother, I guess his father isn’t actually his father if he’s the ‘son of God’?? Hmm…

    I think the reference to Mary could be comparing Ote’s mother to Mary, just as how Ote is compared to Jesus in キリスト. Now that I think about it, キリスト’s story seems to reveal the darker circumstances behind the marriage in 婚祭. I looked at the comments (which I ran through Google Translate) on other songs and apparently, Ote’s mother is フラニー (Franny, who is mentioned here). His father is ゾイ (which was written as Zoy on Abuse’s site?) As a side note, one commenter suggested that their names are a reference to J D Salinger’s Franny and Zooey.
    
    I really like the narrative behind these songs too! It’s cool to see how different people are using Vocaloid as a way to share their own creative universes. A lot of creators who started out with Vocaloid have also entered the mainstream music scene, in addition to having other popular media derived from their music.
