エネ (ene) would normally be translated as ‘energy’, but I went with ‘Ene’ since it could actually be the name of a character.

sekai shuuryou no ori ni nigekitte
shuuen o mita
sonna no de watashi wa tokurei nandatte

At the world’s end, I got away
and saw its demise.
I was an exception, after all.

horumarin no kaori ga
afure kaeru heya de

I was in a room
full of the scent of formalin.

neru you ni kokoro to karada ga hanasarete
tsunagatta dennoushinri itogusu no you

My mind and body were separated so I could sleep.
The linked computer psychology was like lint.

disupurei tanmatsu kara no
watashi wa zuibun hade de
ki ga tsuitara mou
kanzen ni iki o hikitotte ita

From the display terminal
I was quite gaudy
and before I knew it
I had completely stopped breathing.

are demo nai kore demo nai sore demo nai

It’s not that, not this, and not that either.
The signal waves echo through the room by the second.

“nigedashitai”
kurushimi ga tsunagaranai doa o aketa

“I want to escape.”
My suffering opened an unconnected door.

saa, e no namima tadayou kage
mukishitsu na moji retsu no danshou

Well, the figure drifting in a sea of ‘e’
has a pleasant talk with an inorganic character string.

kumo no ito o nuu ka no you ni
kakeru honou o matotta kitsune

Like sewing the spider’s thread
the kitsune was clad in a soaring blaze.

denshi yoku no tabi wa tsudzuku
aoi rashinban ga sasu saki e

My journey craving electrons continues
to where the blue compass points.

iki o tomete iki o tomete
subete ga uso o haku shinjitsu

I stop breathing. I stop breathing.
Everything is truth that spits out lies.

nante kyou wa unzari,
mou nemutte shimaou

I’m fed up with days like today.
I’ll fall fast asleep.

kono sekai no kangae wa
hyaku juu-do anteishitete

This world’s thinking
Is stable at 110 degrees.

neji kitta ronri kan ga ryuukou nandatte
okonomi no channeru wa
futatsu me o suishou shiteru

To think, logic that’s been twisted off is popular.
My favourite channel
recommends the second.

“q. suki na mono wa nandai?”
“a. zuibun kantan na koto da, hito no fukou no aji sa”
“gomi kuzu da ne”

“Q. What do you like?”
“A. It’s very simple, really—the taste of people’s misfortune.”
“Rubbish.”

sore wa sore de ii keredo
“nani ga okashii!” da nante
hassou ga chinpu dayo?
mou shinjaeba ii no ni naa

Things are fine that way, though.
“What’s weird about that?”
Sending it off is a little cliched, right?
Things would be better if I could just die already.

soredemo sa sono naka de fuyuushita
kono kando wa
douyara mou najimi kakete

Still, I was floating within.
I’ve come close
to getting used to this sensitivity.

nigedashitai fukurami wa kasoku shite
iki o tomeru

I want to escape. The swelling gets faster
and I stop breathing.

ah, toroi no yume tsumi komareta
tsugihagi darake no mokuba ga iu

Ah, I was crammed into a dream of Troy.
Thus spoke the patchwork wooden horse.

imi wa iranai, tanoshiku nare
dasei de toke dasu honou no kabe

“Meanings aren’t needed, be at ease.”
The wall of flame starts to dissolve through inertia.

denshi yoku no tabi wa tsudzuku
aoi rashinban wa kyou mo mata

My journey craving electrons continues.
The blue compass does the same thing again today.

dare o korosu? kimi o korosu?
kurukuru kurukuru to mawatte
saa, e no sora ga
zero to ichi o kyou mo heizento tare nagashite

Who will I kill? Will I kill you?
Things spin ‘round and ‘round.
Now, the sky of ‘e’
calmly leaks zeroes and ones again today.

asshuku shita hayaru kokoro
inazuma no tori o oikoshitara

My spirit, having been constricted, is rash.
Once I pass the thunderbird…

denshi yoku no tabi no owari
aoi rashinban ga sashite ita

At the end of my journey craving electrons
the blue compass was pointing.

disupurei no mukou gawa de
saenai kimi dake ga mite ita

On the other side of the display,
all I could see was you, so sullen.

mou sekai wa unzari
me o samashi chaou
nante iu ka shoujiki
chotto waraete sa

I’m tired of the world.
I’ll wake up!
That sort of honesty
is a bit laughable.

  1. Ene is the second character from the right on the album cover! If you look her up, she’s the blue haired character with twintails from the Kagerou Project (or shortened to カゲプロ). If you’re ever interested in a new series to read, Jin published a bunch of light novels and manga that help detail the story, along with the music. The plot is interesting, but can also be pretty complicated from what I remember.
Thanks for translating! I used to follow Kagerou Project as it came out, so this was a nice throwback. It was really popular along with a few other song series around that time. On that note, someone recently translated several interviews that look back at the Vocaloid scene over the years. You can check out Jin’s interview in particular here: https://vgperson.com/vocalinterview.php?view=kzjincollection

    1. You’re welcome (^_^) The Kagerou Project has always seemed really interesting but I never got into it… maybe I should in the future! I’ll keep that interview in the back of my mind in case I get any more similar requests as well
