As you can tell from the video, this song has a lot of layers, and a few areas worthy of further explanation.

In response to a YouTube comment, the composer noted that とんで膨らんで破列したのは物理的な意味ではないです (flying, swelling, and exploding aren’t meant in the physical sense). 膨らむ and 破裂する have alternative meanings – the first also refers to when one’s feelings swell up, and the second refers to when talks or negotiations break down.

A viewer also left a comment suggesting that, since Rin and Len’s clothes don’t change, they’re actually the same person, which would mean that あの子 (ano ko, lit. ‘that child’, which is mostly used to refer to girls but can also be used to refer to one’s own child) is actually loved by them both.

This translation follows that interpretation, but bear in mind that ‘the one I loved’ can be replaced with ‘the one you loved’ in all cases except the first one in the last stanza, where it grammatically needs to be ‘the one I loved’. If reposting, feel free to use the one that matches your interpretation!
