Translation

At dusk in the city
I saw a familiar face.
I quietly tailed them,
deciding to be with them next.

It didn’t bother me that I remained unnoticed.
The black cat posed a question:
“What if they forget about you?”
I don’t care. It’ll happen after these idle days.

The cherry blossoms fell and covered the ground.
I came calling from afar without much in mind.
Sakura lined the road. Their leaves covered the sky.
I was just there, without any strong reason to be.

That day, yesterday and the day before that…
Tomorrow, and the day after that, the same sun will set.
It wavers there beneath my window as the evening sky changes colour.
Can I be by your side?

It’s daybreak. Stuff is on my table
like prescriptions and bank books.
I guess the only thing behind the veil is my diary?
I wrote in it every day.

If they forget, that’s okay.
This is what the black cat says:
“Of course nobody will notice. Just give up already.”

The red leaves of the sakura cover the road.
There’s no strong meaning behind it. Invisible hands can’t touch anything.
You closed the curtains on that sight.
Following the faintest of ideas, you stand on the chair.

Ever since then, forever,
I lost my tomorrow and the days after. It will be night forever.
At my feet, a starry sky twinkles.

 “Can I be by your side?”
