This song seems to be told from the perspective of an observer, a ‘bystander’ so to speak. The first stanza makes a clear distinction between the more feminine あの子 (ano ko) and the more masculine あいつ (aitsu), which I’ve translated as ‘that girl’ and ‘that boy’ respectively. What’s less clear is whether it’s the same girl and the same guy who are being talked about.
