焼ける is such an interesting word to translate. It literally means ‘to burn’ but it also has another, more metaphorical meaning: to burn with jealousy.

Translation

A, B, C, D, E, F, G: All of my worries, piled up on me.
The insides of my head hide in the backlight.
I pulled out flowers of thought, intoxication, and weariness in a dream.
These are the ABCs of avoiding reality, surrounded by concrete.

The dead flowers are looking at me.
Thin, weak memories spill forth.
I relax against a wall at night.
The moon sinks and the rooster crows.

I worry and burn with jealousy during these pointless days.
Now, I want to tear them out and give them to you.
A, B, C, D. I am seen off in this room beneath the moon.
Shall we dance the quadrille together?

A, B, C, D, E, F, G. Hey, hey, hey, save me!

Melancholy dances within my head.
I pulled flowers of thought, mayday, and love in a dream.
These are the ABCs of avoiding reality, surrounded by concrete.

My words are peeled away by dead flowers.
In other words, my heart is laid bare.
I cry, shake, wither, and get used to it.
The round moon sank and vanished.

I worry and burn with jealousy. Now, my heart sinks.
It’s all in my mind. Even my tears are all in my mind.
A, B, C, D. I am seen off in this room beneath the moon.
I want to gather up the dead roses here and give them to you: “It’s a bouquet!”

I worry and burn with jealousy during these pointless days.
Now, I want to tear them out and give them to you.
A, B, C, D. I am seen off in this room beneath the moon.
Shall we dance the quadrille together?
