senri no negai
A Distant Prayer

Vocals: 556t
Lyrics: megane
Arranged by: megane
Album: 8magics to kill the gods
Circle: 回路-kairo-
Event: C83
Original Theme: Fall of Fall ~ Autumnal Waterfall [

Requested by: tramdottre

Update (12 September 2021): Change to last stanza Thanks Rinki Sorami!

The 千里 (senri) in the title literally means ‘a thousand ri‘, with ri being a unit of distance. It also aligns with Momiji’s ability to see 1000 ri into the distance.

I believe it

Translation

The autumn leaves seem to burn deeply.
They fall and overlap.

I couldn’t be honest with myself.
My cheeks were always wet with tears.

I will kick away even the truth, which I can’t change
and I’ll laugh.
I’ll stop crying.

I saw my God
from afar.
They’re smiling and praying for tomorrow.

The things I should have forgotten
are still right here.

Colours that don’t mix
become a vortex and ripple.

I wonder if, someday
you and I can blend together.

I’ll even kick away
all the prayers
piled up like wood, and I’ll scream
loud and into the distance.

I saw my God
from afar.
I smile at them and pray.

The things I should have forgotten
are still right here.

I saw what I wanted
from far away.
Someday, I will take it in my hands.
I believe it.

Hello. Thank you for your translation.

    > I saw what I wanted
    > from far away.
    > I will take it, and that distant day, in my hands.

I translate the 3rd line to “I will take it in my hands someday”.
To me in your translation “求めていたもの” and “いつの日か” seemed grammatically coordinate. To interpret that way, I think we need “も” in 3rd line.

Thanks – that makes perfect sense, and I’ve updated the last stanza (^_^)
