Translation

A single cloud is in the light indigo sky.
It drifts silently, and I doze off.

It chases the passing seasons,
drifting and swaying…
How sad, the cloud vanishes.

They passed away deep inside the mountain path.
This is the ruin of the soldiers’ dreams.

Where are the visitors?
Where are those who remember?

Alas,
the petals blossom then fall.
They pile up in offering to someone long gone,
dying the fields of past battles
the colour of blood.

The cicadas cry at twilight
while the clouds turn madder red.
Their buzzing cries mourn the end of summer,
echoing for a moment.

The red spider lilies look ablaze
mourning for someone long gone.
They sway listlessly in the colourless wind
upon the autumnal mountain path.

They gather as an offering to someone long gone.
They drift at night’s mercy
like a dream.
