The ウグイス (uguisu) in the title can also be seen as a metaphor for a person with a beautiful voice.

Translation

The demure
and refined lady
was for sale.
Now,
her buxom chest
and lost heart
are exchanged for feminine happiness.

Bodies can be bought.
They vanish into the night streets.

Love my body passionately.
I don’t need love
because I know dreams can be bought with cash.

We embrace and head to the world of dreams
though it won’t last forever.
You chase dreams
and you don’t understand feminine warmth.

My glass heart is covered in bodily fluids
and I won’t show it to anyone.
We play at midnight with my buxom body.
Feminine happiness is in my womb.

I’ve protected myself until now
by doubting others.

Love me passionately.
I don’t need lies,
I’ll satisfy your lust. The rest isn’t my problem.

Love my body passionately.
I don’t need love
because I know dreams can’t come true.

Now I’m dead,
and my time will last forever.
Yet I, who chase dreams,
cannot understand humans.

ahhh thank you very much for translating my request :D!! This song’s a bit old, but it’s one of my favorite MASA songs, and it’s so nice to have a translation for it finally ^^

I have a quick question regarding the title though if you don’t mind. Someone a few years ago translated this song and translated the title as “Nightingale Prostitute”, but because the translation they provided wasn’t accurate, the validity of the title was questioned. A native Japanese speaker said the actual title for the song was “Bush Warbler Whore” and that’s the English title for the song on the Vocaloid lyrics wiki. Can Nightingale and Bush Warbler be used interchangeably? Or is only one of them correct? Sorry for the ling-winded question I’m just curious haha

Hi! That’s okay – thanks for checking about this (^_^)

I had trouble finding a definitive source, but it looks like the ウグイス (uguisu) has two names: Japanese Bush-Warbler and Japanese Nightingale.

The two seem to be used interchangably, so I think either could be a valid translation.

I focused on preserving the idea of someone with a beautiful voice, because a ‘demure and refined lady’ is referred to in the song. I think ‘nightingale’ conveys that better than ‘bush warbler’, which is why I chose nightingale.
