Apart from that one time Kaztora decided to write lyrics, this marks the first time someone other than Azuki has written lyrics for a Shinra-Bansho song. The newcomer is Seiji (青時), who according to his Twitter profile writes short stories and lyrics in his spare time, and reads about 20 light novels a month.

On his website, he wrote a little entry on being involved with this album: “I was in charge of a ballad and a rock song – completely opposite genres. This time, I think I gained a considerable amount of EXP…”

As anyone following my translations probably knows already, I’m totally Team Azuki all the way. Still, it’s nice to see another lyricist involved in Shinra-Bansho. This song is told from Meiling’s point of view – note the transition from third person to first person. Is it all a dream? Who knows…

非公式の英訳/Unofficial translation

In the past, that lonely girl sat with her arms around her knees.
She recklessly grasped only the warmth in her palms…

She saw off those days, dyed scarlet,
And she dreamed of the place she could return to…

When she spread her hands out, the treasure inside vanished with the dew.

She could only see them off, and they were parted. The stars flowed.
She felt someone calling to her, and was moved to tears by the hand that was stretched out to her.

Being relied upon, and believing. To begin with, it’s a bit awkward.
But I’ll show you that I can do the jobs you entrust me with, with all my might.

That aged gate, the watering can that stinks of metal,
And grass that has grown thin are all that are in this garden.

I hope I can stick out my chest and say “this is my treasure!”

To think that I’m so happy now… I try smiling at my past self, who had been left behind.
Even if my tears suddenly spill out, it’s okay – there’s someone who’ll wipe them away for me.

I whistle badly, putting on a modest concert.
In my album, turned sepia-coloured after being stained with tea,
These memories garnish its ever-increasing pages – I shall leave them behind…

The moon we looked at, side by side – though it was ordinary, it sparkled,
And it smiled at the stars that passed by. My face wrinkled and became wet.
I have so many things I treasure, I cannot hold them all – this is the place I will return to!
The thing that I couldn’t grab hold of that time is surely inside my palm…

Being relied upon, and believing in someone. I won’t hesitate anymore!
I’ll try my hardest in things other than the jobs left to me as well…

Man the translation just made the song better for me thanks for that! On a random note looks like this was done on my birthday which is neat.
