I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m a fan of pretty much all of Yuuka’s themes. It feels like I’ve translated a couple of songs based on Gensokyo, Past and Present lately, which is a good thing! I can’t believe it took me this long to discover this arrangement…

Translation

“Please, kill me with your own hands.”
You said, whilst touching my hair.
I fearfully gazed at you, as if I was looking in a mirror
One who leaves someone behind. One who is left behind.

I scattered withered flowers about –
Flowers with lovely smiles and red petals…

I bit my finger, and the blood that began to flow out
Had a sinful taste, like rusted metal.
I had prepared myself
To fulfill our promise.
“I’m sorry…” I muttered,
And my voice dissolved in the blue sky.
I cannot offer even my tears,
Even my tears, anymore…

The seasons pass like a swift stallion.
When that pronounced shadow fell upon the earth,
A pair of willowy leaves budded
Beneath the shadowy fragments of the round stars.

Immediately afterwards, a sun-coloured flower bloomed.
It grew even taller than me…

I bit my finger, and with the blood flowing from it,
I drew a line and defiled the flower’s petals.
It is lovely, but it is odious.
I hate it, but I like it.

The flowers withered and bowed their heads,
And their seeds, like tears, softly fell.

“Please, kill me with your own hands.”
You said, whilst touching my hair.
The seasons pass like a swift stallion,
And a span of time longer than your life passed.

The wind blows, disturbing my hair.
I lay my fingertips upon you.
In high spirits, I twirl my umbrella:
Summer has come once more.
My tears can flow no more.
Seeds overflowed from my hands,
And everything was rustling about
In this sunflower field.
