(Ameno Orca)
Album: 櫻雨キネマトグラフ ~大正壹佰年奇譚~ (Cherry Blossom Rain Cinématographe ~Mystical Tale of A Hundred Years of the Taisho Era~)
(Automata Girl)
Event: C83
Original theme: Stirring an Autumn Moon ~ Mooned Insect [蠢々秋月 ~ Mooned Insect]

Requested by: Eiki

It’s a shame this circle never released another album, but at the same time, it works really well as a standalone album. It’s been around three years but the album is still as relevant today as it was back then…

Also, like the other songs by this circle, the lyrics are written in old-fashioned Japanese, but they’re sung in modern Japanese. It’s hard to convey in English – just imagine it’s using a really ancient font or something like that.

Translation

I’m a newbie, whose cap is still bright red.
I can deliver just a few letters and goods.
In that state, shall I run around today informing the people, too?
Back roads, shortcuts… all roads are, well, you know!
Even where the modern girl, the passing parasol salesman, or that girl who sells flowers are.

The bell chimes and I fly off! Munching at a caramel, I head for the sky.
I wander and spin. The sun sets. I don’t know the way home.

I’m a hard worker, and my T-shaped mark is still shining. (1)
I can only deliver suitable letters and goods.
In that state, shall I run around today informing the people, too?
The fortune-teller in the back alley and the lady in her dress, too,
Lecture me for being suspicious. How sad, I’ve lost my way out! But when I probed around in my pocket… look!

I’ll fly even 300 metres in one go! Munching at a caramel, I head for the sky
Though there are days when I get a bit scared and feel unpleasant.

So someone, somewhere, can smile tomorrow…
That’s basically my purpose!

I’m famous – they say my bright red cap suits me well.
I can deliver anything! I won’t lose to even the cold.
In that state, shall I run around today informing the people, too?
From the female reporter to the blunt-faced butler…
I escape the fog, and after climbing the staircase, an unseen world is waiting for me.

I put on a dignified pose and fly off! If I don’t do it, who can?
Even if I cower, shake, or am hesitant… I’ll move forward!

Chasing after myself from today, I face the light and head to the sky.
Though I slip, fall, and stumble, I smile!

Translator’s note

(1) The original lyrics point out the similarity between Japan’s postal mark (〒) and the katakana character te (テ).
