Given that Masa is no stranger to incorporating foreign languages in his songs, I feel that ‘Benrii paaraa’ and similar phrases seen in the choruses may be borrowed from another language.

Translation

I’m a devil for today, and the phaser is a tempest.
That’s right, barbie monthly pay burner.
Belittling the war front, bunker buster.

Benri paaraa, Parisienne.
Beiti ban ban, darling, wow!
There’s never any supplies. God, *cough*.
I’m proactive when it comes to incinerators.

Lining up false happiness,
nobody says that it’s already over.
If nobody says it, things won’t start.
Please save me, bunker buster!

Benri paaraa, Parisienne.
Beiti ban ban, darling, wow!
Benri paaraa, Parisienne.
Beiti ban ban, darling, wow!
There’s never any supplies. God, *cough*.
So, on-site? On the bench, Parisienne.

Benri paaraa, Parisienne.
The sky is sparkling.

Smashed-up happiness is happiness.
Broken happiness is happiness.
I carry out justice, and nobody is at fault.
This is the boundary between God and livestock.

Can a way to dream even be taught?
Those sorts of things aren’t dreams.
The walking corpse and the kitten flying in the sky
are no different to human sludge.

The child shouting that they don’t care about love
fell into a sea of blood searching for it.
The smart, foolish scarecrow
lives while hidden in the rubbish.

I get scared when I see myself
reflected in the mirror.
Standing atop a square ball,
I solve the world’s contradictions.

Benri paaraa, Parisienne.
Beiti ban ban, darling, wow!
Benri paaraa, Parisienne.
Beiti ban ban, darling, wow!
There’s never any supplies. God, *cough*.
So, on-site? On the bench, Parisienne.

Benri paaraa, Parisienne.
The sky is sparkling.

From tomorrow, the future will become soot-stained.
You just don’t get that it’s all over now.
If I don’t get things started, they won’t start.
Heaven is hell, bunker buster.

This landscape is displayed on a glass screen.
This pleasure is someone else’s business.
The blood-red sky is too full of hatred.
The livestock shed tears.

The sooty propeller doesn’t tear my fingers.
Who is to blame for that pain?
The time won’t come for everything to end
but life turns to ash straight away.

I witness the present era ending with the eyes of a god.
Humans cannot become gods.
The scales of human sin and life
will never move.

The bird who had given up on living
is observing the shadow dance.
The sky is broken, and they shed tears of pity.
Won’t you come? I’ll forgive everything.

Benri paaraa, Parisienne.
Beiti ban ban, darling, wow!
Benri paaraa, Parisienne.
Beiti ban ban, darling, wow!
There’s never any supplies. God, *cough*.
So, on-site? On the bench, Parisienne.

Benri paaraa, Parisienne.
The sky is sparkling.

A black glint and a crimson fountain.
Livestock were raised, and livestock are raised.
I carry out justice. Am I at fault?
This is a soliloquy of gods and livestock.

This utterly unlaughable tale
will someday be forgotten and fade away.
Beyond the street corner, I sit on a bench.
I drown in dreams and die.

It’s all junk. With a single fingertip,
my world is empty.
I listen to the blood-red sky
and drop everything, leaving nothing behind.

Sorry for asking this, but… what’s this song about? I’m having trouble deciphering the lyrics (I think maybe Masa just made them particularly obtuse for people like me), but it seems to be a song about war, with Miku and Gumi as soldiers? I get some sort of notion that Miku is more world-weary than Gumi, and they might have developed a God complex at some point and starting bombing civilians (livestock) in “This landscape is displayed on a glass screen./
This pleasure is someone else’s business./
The blood-red sky is too full of hatred./
    The livestock shed tears.”
but I don’t really know if that’s what we’re supposed to take out of the song, if anything. Also, who are the scarecrow and the child supposed to be? Characters unrevealed by Masa? General representations of something? I’m also having trouble with the very first verse, especially with “barbie monthly pay burner”. Who’s belittling the war front, and why?

Thanks so much for translating these songs, by the way. As far as I know, nobody with experience translating is currently doing Masa except you, so you’re kind of carrying his words to the English community? Maybe I’m exaggerating, but I really do appreciate you taking requests for a niche producer like him.

Hello! Thanks for your comment! I think your interpretation of the lyrics is a good one. I think you could go one step further and say that either Miku or Gumi (or both) are in charge. Looking at the last verse, it looks like they make the decision and press the button to drop the rest of the explosives. Other parts of the song address moral dilemmas and, ultimately, the senselessness and hopelessness of violence and war.

I’m not too sure about the first verse either. I feel like ‘barbie monthly pay burner’ could be referring to soldiers or other people paying for sex (making ‘barbie’ a reference to a Barbie doll). It reminds me of a common trope of Vocaloid music, where you can get entire verses that are just a series of seemingly disconnected images, focusing instead on the rhythm of the words.

As for the part about belittling the war front, the lyrics don’t tell us who, so we have to guess or infer from what’s around it. If we see the ‘bunker buster’ as a person or a group of people, it could be them. Or, it could be the speaker.

Regarding the scarecrow and the child, I think they are broader symbols of suffering and an afflicted regime. The scarecrow could be a ‘puppet’ leader, or a leader who has no substance like a scarecrow. The child could be read as ‘children’, looking at how violence and war affect the young.

Thanks for your kind words too (^_^) I really appreciate it. I’m always grateful to the people who request for giving me the opportunity to learn so much about different producers and artists out there. It gives me motivation to keep learning and improving my skills!
