I was tempted to translate words like ‘steel’ and ‘soft’ to ‘iron’ and ‘velvet’ to fit with the title, but I didn’t go through with it in the end.

歌詞

明かりが照らし出した 理は封じられた
ただただ 揺らめいた 影は欠け落ちた

窓の外眺めた 季節は何色?

鋼の中 響け柔らかな声
My brightness and darkness is in the your world

何故 姿勢折れ曲がり 頭は儚さが増す
朝焼け 暴かれた 姿が霞んだ

銀河の夢煌き 流れていく

鋼の音 響け柔らかな声
My brightness and darkness is in the your world

金メッキの欠片集めてみたけど

虚像の日々歪む 艶やかな歌
My brightness and darkness is in the your world
鋼の中 響け柔らかな声
Iron and velvet are essentially the same things

Romanisation

akari ga terashidashita kotowari wa fuujirareta
tada tada yurameita kage wa kakeochita

mado no soto nagameta kisetsu wa naniiro?

hagane no naka hibike yawaraka na koe
My brightness and darkness is in the your world

naze shisei ore magari atama wa hakanasa ga masu
asayake abakareta sugata ga kasunda

ginga no yume kirameki nagarete iku

hagane no oto hibike yawaraka na koe
My brightness and darkness is in your world

kin mekki no kakera atsumetemita kedo

kyozou no hibi yugamu adeyaka na uta
My brightness and darkness is in your world
hagane no naka hibike yawaraka na koe
Iron and velvet are essentially the same things

Translation

Illuminated logic was sealed away
and the flickering shadows slipped away.

I looked out my window. What colour is the season?

I beg my soft voice to echo through steel.
My brightness and darkness is in your world.

Why? I hunch over, with my head growing emptier.
My figure, exposed by the morning glow, blurred away.

The Milky Way dream glistens and flows.

I beg my soft voice to echo through steel.
My brightness and darkness is in your world.

I tried to gather up the gilded fragments, and yet—

The false, bewitching song grows more twisted day by day.
My brightness and darkness is in your world.
I beg my soft voice to echo through steel.
Iron and velvet are essentially the same thing.
