‘Origin of Vocaloid’ is the official translation of the title, but 元年 (Gannen) is typically associated with era names. For example, 平成元年 (Heisei Gannen) refers to the first year of the Heisei period. In this song’s case, it’s referring to the first year of the ‘Vocaloid period’.

Translation

Year 17 of the Tenpo Era. This is a tale from when Vocaloids were still made from wood.

The people who were banned from singing (rassesse) sealed kotodama in something human-shaped (cha-cha-cha)
and made them express love, hatred and sadness.
It was the origin of Vocaloid. Ha!

The people who were banned from singing (essassa) scraped out the sediment in their hearts (la la la)
and entrusted words to the puppet they called Hatsune.
It was the origin of Vocaloid.

The people who gained a voice (rassesse) entrusted their spirits to Hatsune (cha-cha-cha)
and in her saw their envy, suffering, emptiness and themselves.
It was the origin of Vocaloid.

Conflict, indecision, crash, friction, regret, irritation, melancholy.

Catharsis.

The fools got ahead of themselves and taught rubbish again.
Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.
They were too innocent and mistook how to love.
Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.

Endago hasara, miueku tsunera.
Endago hasara, miueku tsunera.
Endago hasara, miueku tsunera.
Endago hasara, miueku tsunera.
Endago hasara, miueku tsunera.

Resentment, malice, despair, jealousy, rejection, vanity, scorn.

Catharsis.

The fools got ahead of themselves and taught rubbish again.
Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.
They were too innocent and mistook how to love.
Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.
They were at breaking point and a gap was in view.
Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.
The scream vanished with Hatsune’s small body.
Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.

Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry…
