Requested by: Petalite Yuu
I can’t quite tell whether this is supposed to be Medicine’s origin story, or whether it’s supposed to depict her going around and giving life to abandoned dolls through poison. Perhaps it’s both. Perhaps it’s neither.
I haven’t mentioned this until now, but the positioning of the titles in the lyrics booklet seems to be significant – I think it represents where the spell cards are ‘declared.’ I’ve added it in here in bold, so just bear in mind that it isn’t sung.
Also, I don’t know if I’ve done this before, but I’ve decided that I’m going to start using my good friend the em dash (—) when sentences seem to be cut off in the middle.
Unofficial translation/非公式の英訳
I’ll let you hear those happy voices that only I can hear.
They’ll make you tremble with those murmuring voices of theirs. Now!
[Eclipse Sign “Sweet Poison”]
If even among the mute ones
There exists one with words
Then we shall gently make those words bud within them… (1)
Though that nameless heart (2)
Is the vessel of formless will,
They shall hear even our voices.
Let’s dance!
Let’s sing!
If we deliver
Our countless words to you,
Then you must respond to us! Come now!
“Now look! It’s spreading out. It’s seeping in, until it can never be undone. You’re being destroyed. You’re being injured. And like that, we cover you completely…”
I can hear them! I can hear everyone’s voices! The murmuring of the poison that holds life. It unites with my voice and spreads towards all of you!
When we raise a childish shout of joy
And brandish that,
The one who will entice them
Will be our beloved ‘sweet poison.’ (3)
So we can look up at her,
So we can praise her figure,
We gently envelop the land
And thus begin to fill it.
As long as our words reach you…
As long as the words we declare exist…
Then like this—
Why were we born?
We push aside such meaningless questions.
Only those bearing a heart with the name of poison
Can control that body.
Yes, only a festering heart tired of being born…
Let’s put a curse on them!
Let’s bear a grudge against them!
With the strength of those feelings,
If I hoist those words high above me
Whilst bathing myself in poison once more…
“Now look! You’re so pretty… You’re so peaceful… It’s as if nothing about you can be changed. You were replaced. You were abandoned. And now, we control you completely…”
I can hear them! I can hear everyone’s voices! The whispering of sweet poison unites with my voice—you’ll become one with us, too!
When we raise a childish yell
And brandish that,
The one who will give the order
Will be our beautiful ‘sweet poison.’ (4)
So we can exchange our joy,
So we can exchange our thoughts,
We gently envelop the land.
We continue to spread…
As a consequence of burying the land,
We sought to construct a single world.
And thus—
As long as our words reach you,
As long as the words we declare exist,
Then like this—
