It seems like this song details the creation of the universe, but it also seems to detail the experiences of a single person as they gaze at the stars. Perhaps each individual forms their own ‘universe’ from how they feel as they gaze up into the night sky…

By the way, you’d think that the title should be translated as something like ‘The Planet of Sand.’ But when I searched for how the term is used and translated, ‘Star Sand’ popped up more often. It makes me think of the stars as grains of sand upon the dark sea of the night sky…

Translation

Whilst looking at the sky,
I see the stars
Sparkling prettily.
“How strange…” I think.

Though they seem to become more beautiful
As they move,
They are set on sparkling in the sky
Forever.

They become the universe,
And the sky turns blue.
The rain tumbles down.
I wonder if this is right…

I am moved, and I grow more fond of them.
You hold something important in your hands.
Let’s set off to a star nobody knows about
After drawing a circle.

On days when
Everything seems fun,
Things that have been decided beforehand
Could become pleasant, too.

That’s how it all started, isn’t it?
My heart overflows.
I don’t mind if I can’t stop it,
So shine!

Thus, it becomes the past
And the present is empty.
Even so, I fall into a daze
And I cannot understand a thing.

When I believe, I grow even fonder of them.
If I can float in the sky, then I’m sure
I’ll know that it’s no mistake.
I hope I can fulfil my dream…

They become the universe,
And the sky turns blue.
The rain tumbles down.
I wonder if this is right…

When I am moved, I grow more fond of them.
You hold something important in your hands.
Let’s set off to a star nobody knows about
After drawing a circle.
