It seems like there are a few other translations of this song out there on Youtube, but I thought I’d try to approach it from a different angle to help us get closer to the song’s core.

‘Delusion Sentimentality Compensation Federation’ appears to be the song’s official English title, though it’s not entirely clear who the federation actually is. It could be the two lovers this song is based on, or it could even be a group of emotions, banding together inside one of the partners to try and turn their dreams into reality.

Either way, I think one of the partners isn’t happy with their relationship. I feel like they’re not being honest with each other, lying to themselves and to each other by saying that everything’s “just fine” when it isn’t.

Translation

I said it:
“I want to be by your side for a little longer.”
No, no, prolonging it is annoying.
I’m sorry. You’re heading home, right?
You’re dense, like carbon dioxide…

I want to be submerged in a swampy dream!
Even if I’m called selfish, I’ll just stick out my tongue.
I’m not anxious. I have no future.
I want to be born again with such an expression…

I realised it:
Even if you flip the words “I hate you” inside out,
“I love you” won’t be hidden inside.
I want my feelings to bear fruit…
How naïve! They circle through my fat heart.

I’ll turn these fat feelings → slim.
Let’s make things like they were when we met.
I remember your smile and feel madly idealistic,
And gain relief from my bloodshot desires.

Still, love that’s “just fine” doesn’t exist.

So, the Delusion Sentimentality Compensation Federation
Embraced love and declared their ideals
Singing a song of fools with nowhere to go.
Retry, reincarnation, teleportation.
We keep trying, but it keeps dying
At the mercy of endless love.

I can’t stand love.

I did my best.
I can’t help this selfishness.
Even after bearing fruit, a mysterious dilemma remains.
“Are you mad?” “…I’m not.”
We’re in harmony, yet we’re out of sync.

If this was a film or a TV drama,
Then though I’d endure it until the credits,
I wouldn’t want to watch it again.
It had an awful beginning, middle, and end.

Still, I ended up believing in love that’s “just fine.”

So this is known as the age of seeking love.
This phase, in which I hated and protected love,
Begins to properly distort.
It’s the worst! It’s like an interpersonal lubricant.
We’ll just keep hurting each other over and over
While our philosophies of love mix together.

Still, I ended up memorising lies, like “I’m fine.”

So, the Delusion Sentimentality Compensation Federation
Embraced love and declared their ideals
Singing a song of fools with nowhere to go.
Retry, reincarnation, teleportation.
We keep trying, but it keeps dying
At the mercy of endless love.

This is known as the age of seeking love.
This phase, in which I hated and protected love,
Begins to properly distort.
It’s the worst! It’s like an interpersonal lubricant.
We’ll just keep hurting each other over and over
While our philosophies of love mix together. Now…

I can’t stand love…

  1. Thank you for translating this!!!
I love your take on the English translation compared to the others I’ve seen, I don’t know how to word it but…. yours is just better!
