Wheel of Fortune

Vocals: ichigo
Lyrics: ichigo
Arranged by: カヨコ (Kayoko)
Album: SUI-TEN
Circle: ONSEN PROJECT
Event: Reitaisai 14 [RTS14]
Original theme: The Reversed Wheel of Fortune [

Requested by: Kaii Schwartz

This is my favourite track from the album. The chorus is so emotive! It’s everything I could hope for from an arrangement of Sagume’s theme.

Eeny, meeny miney, mo.
Eeny, meeny miney, mo.

Eeny, meeny miney, mo.
Eeny, meeny miney, mo.

Eeny, meeny miney, mo.
Eeny, meeny miney, mo.

Eeny, meeny miney, mo.
Eeny, meeny miney, mo.

Translation

A small sakinohaka— (1)
That black flower seems to lament our fate.

Offering it up, losing it…
Even fleeting hopes seemed terrifying.

Eeny, meeny, miney, mo. Let’s leave our fate to the cards.
This world, in which only farewells fall like snow, is mad.
Eeny, meeny, miney, mo. Let’s ask the cards about our fate.
It’ll be our secret…

Still, I know it’s more honest
To not know about even the smallest fragment of the future.

Eeny, meeny, miney, mo. Let’s leave our fate to the cards.
I love this world, in which only farewells fall like snow.
Eeny, meeny, miney, mo. Let’s ask the cards about our fate.
It’ll be our secret…

I don’t think we’re chosen by someone and kept alive.
If a sad conclusion awaits us, let’s turn it around!

Eeny, meeny, miney, mo. Let’s leave our fate to the cards.
Only farewells will make it hard for us to part.
Eeny, meeny, miney, mo. Let’s ask the cards about our fate.
I’ll treasure our fortune, you know…

Eeny, meeny, miney, mo. Let’s leave our fate to the cards.
I love this world, in which only farewells fall like snow.
Eeny, meeny, miney, mo. Let’s ask the cards about our fate.
It’ll be our secret…

Translator’s note

(1) The sakinohaka (サキノハカ) is not a real flower. Rather, it was ‘created’ by Miyazawa Kenji in the following passage from his poem ‘To My Students’:

“With a black flower called sakinohaka
a revolution will soon be here.
It is a ray of light sent to us,
a southerly wind already decided on.”
