For some reason, I read these lyrics and imagine Cirno dissolving in the sun and fading away. Kind of like that EastNewSound track I had a look at the other day.

Putting that aside, there are some interesting ideas in this song. Is the speaker seeing an illusion, or are they themselves the illusion…? Interestingly enough, the song makes a clear distinction between 露 (tsuyu – dew) and 霧 (kiri – fog). 露 (tsuyu) can also mean tears. Perhaps a core of heartbreak lies at the heart of this song…

muimi darou to omowareta nigotta namida mo
kono mizuumi wo hodo yoku hitashite ita

Polluted tears, judged as useless,
Were soaking the lake even more than before.

kiri no naka de kao dashita maboroshi no izanai
kakureru you ni sumikomu uchiki na hime

An illusion showed its face and tempted me from within the mist.
They were a shy princess, staying inside to hide themselves.

chigireta kanjou ga ha wo suberi
jiyuu wo nomikonde omoku ibuku

My torn-up emotions slide down the leaves.
I gulp down freedom and breathe heavily.

tsuyu ni kaeru jitsuzou genkaku ni magire
marude jibun dewa nai you de
kore ga uchi naru kokoro
awai kiri no naka ni ichido dake hanashite
mada shiranai shoujiki na
honnou wo tsukitateru sugata
sagutte ita

A real image, returning to dew, disappears into an illusion.
It’s like I’m not myself.
This is how I really feel.
A figure was thrusting their honest instincts,
Which they didn’t yet understand,
Into the faint mist. They let them loose only once.
I was searching.

muimi darou to omowareta nigotta namida mo
kono mizuumi wo hodo yoku hitashite ita

Polluted tears, judged as useless,
Were soaking the lake even more than before.

te ga todokanai you na oku fukaku
shizumu kegare sae mo kage ni utsuru

It’s so deep my hands can’t reach the bottom.
Even the submerged dirt can be seen in the shadows…

chigireta kanjou ga ha wo suberi
omoi kasanaru toki kaku e ochiru

My torn-up emotions slide down the leaves.
When our feelings overlap, they will fall toward the core.

tsuyu ni kaeru jitsuzou genkaku ni magire
ishiki dake dewa tomaranai
hontou no jibun wo miru
awai kiri no naka no
yume da to omowasete
tooku fukaku subete no
kioku dake wo sora ni azukete
kiri ni naru

A real image, returning to dew, disappears into an illusion.
It won’t stop at just my senses.
I look at my true self.
I’m made to think
That it’s just a dream in the light mist.
I entrust only my memories
Of everything, far and deep, to the sky
And become mist.

Big thanks for the translation ^_^
I like this song very much, the lyrics are quite heartbreaking and the arrange itself is very impressive.

      You’re welcome! Poor Cirno…
I enjoyed the arrangement, too – it reminded me a bit of their U.N. Owen one, which I appreciated
