    Hi releska.
    I realized this thread is so long now, and I keep commenting for very random details in very random time. I’m really sorry about that, it’s because i got those details in different time, so i couldnt make one and only proper comment. But lets say, I think this one will be the last and ultimate comment i make on this thread.
    So while waiting for your previous response, I had gone to ask the author directly, and only until today i got response from them, and I’m bringing it to here now:

    I have asked them about 寵児 and 夢を摘む. I used a translate machine to ask, so the question may not exactly what i mean though:
    寵児は誰なんだろう、パルスィなのかな、それともシェイクスピアなのかな。(I asked who is 寵児)
    解りあわぬ夢と芽生える夢は隠喩だろう、愛なのか感情なのか、夢を摘むのはパルスィなのか? (and i ask if 夢 a metaphor + is 夢を摘む done by parsee (which is “I”/the singer))

    I got their response to my question above here:
    宇治の橋姫(水橋パルスィ)の伝説が書かれている「源平盛衰記(平家物語)」、
    平家物語の大きなテーマである「盛者必衰」、
    そしてその時代に広がり進化し始めた「仏教」への懐疑・批判的な視点。

    の3つを軸に歌詞にしています。

    寵児は特定の人物を指しているのではありませんが
    平安時代当時の新興勢力、宗派の某僧侶等をイメージしています。

    千年以上、繰り返される盛者必衰を見てきたパルスィ、
    そしてこの先も栄枯盛衰を見続けるであろう
    パルスィの視点です。

    First they talk about the inspiration, well I dont know much detail about this especially the 3rd one, so perhaps someone who learning jpese for a longtime like you could pull some detail out of it easier.

    for my other question, I dont think they answered it directly but from what they answered, perhaps who 芽生える夢を摘む shouldnt be Parsee, as she seems to be someone who watch it happened only. Arh!!! This is hard for me!

    It still bugged me on 君のXXの中でだけ響き渡れ after your response, but I decided to not ask for detail on it, since I think my main problem is your “through”. At first I thought it was some kind of piercing out of XX, and a jpese friend of mine only use “echo” when they talked about that line. So perhaps it may come from the fact that both of us arent fluent english speaker, make my friend may not notice if “echo” is enough or not to translate 響き渡れ, and make me may misunderstand your “echo through”. Perhaps your “echo through” are like “echo through the ages”, if so it wont make me feel the “piercing out of XX” anymore.
    And for the interpretation if “this song” or “君” 消え行く, I no more think it a problem as whatever 消え行く, your translation or my interpretation will come to the same result that “this song” will 消え行く, by itself or be carried by “君”.
    And my friend think it is “herself” who 消え行く and it’s just their first thought, though. But now consider Ridil’s response which talk about buddhist hell, could it be, I wonder?

      Hello again! It’s great you received a response from the author. I can tell from their response that a lot of thought went into the lyrics, especially with those three points they raise (Heike Monogatari, the idea that even the prosperous decay, and suspicions about Buddhism circulating during the period.)

      I also think the idea of ‘echoing through the ages’ captures the essence of that line much better! So in the first case, the song would only echo during 君’s period of loneliness or isolation. In the second, it only echoes in 君’s personal world.

      After reading the author’s comments, I think I’m going to make some changes to my translation. Please let me know what you think!

    A jpese friend said to me that “夜は” 夜 coud be the subject, but “夜は” also could means “at night” and this way of using “夜は” is very common in their language. Since i dont really find “夜” as subject in that line make sense much, I tried to give a interpretation based on that thought, and it could be like this: “the color of crucible melting empty pain dyed the garden of thorns scarlet at night,…” as i found on weblio 朱 means “yellowish red” (look like color we see when we melting thing in a crucible for me). Do you think it’s possible, or you interpreted it different?

      Hi – I guess that could work? I saw it as the sun setting, replacing the bright light of day with the scarlet light of dusk as night fell.

    There is something I have not understood yet in this song, hope you could help me out
    – Have you seen the official upload of Ridil for this song? I watched it and i think i found some alternative part in lyric compared to what in booklet:
    夜は棘の庭朱に染めあげ , they added a “、” to it, so it became 夜は棘の庭、朱に染めあげ
    also 遠く旅を重ね幾星霜 became 遠く、旅を重ね幾星霜
    Would it make the meaning change? The second line i dont think so but I wonder if first one change.

    – What do you think of this stanza? I feel that it is a reference to parsee’s power, she can even make 寵児 become jealous and do the curse 釘を打つ. But I could not connect this interpretation to other lines in this stanza at all.

    fun stuff: when I searched the word 寵児, I found it on a dictionary where they quote a sentence in a book of 吉田健一 / “Shakespeare became the Darling of London stage world” or something like that. As I remember reading somewhere, parsee’s title “Green eye monster” came from shakespeare’s works. It may or may not relate to 寵児 in this song though 😀

    – 君のXXの中でだけ響き渡れ, I’m not sure much about this line, could you explain it a bit? according to my worse-than-baby jpese knowledge, I read this line as “may this (song) echo inside your XX only”. I’m not sure if it really has a “through”, as i understand it “this will echo and pass your XX to the other side…”. If it doesnt, then “the song” will “echo” only in “your XX”, it can’t go to the other side of hell to disappear by itself, the one that disappear is “you”, as “you” carrying “this song” inside “you” to the other side… That is how I interpreted it if there is not an actual “through”. I also think this is a another reference to parsee’s power, as “this song” is the “jealousy” she made the poor soul felt.

      I forgot, Is there some kind of a “future tense” in this 腐り落ちるの? Could the stanza read as “after months and year on far away journey / will root and fall”, may not grammar corrected but i think it’s not far from your translation.

        Hi! Thank you for your patience while I thought about your comment and the points you raised. I’ll go through them one by one…

        Firstly, I don’t think the extra commas change the meaning of the sentences you raised.

        Secondly, regarding the part with 寵児… could 寵児 actually be Parsee? She doubts love and through jealousy destroys the love of someone she admires (nipping the dream in the bud). Good spotting on the historical use of 寵児 as well! It’s interesting but I don’t think the link to Shakespeare is strong enough to reference here.

        Finally, regarding 響き渡れ, I still have mixed feelings but I don’t think the second line is referring to 君. I would expect the thing 響き渡れ-ing to be the same thing that 消え行く-s in the second line. This is because (most of the time) the subject of a single stanza does not change. Furthermore, the addition of 渡れ suggests to me that the sound is resounding over a wide surface (such as ‘loneliness’ or a world). It doesn’t feel to me like 響き渡れ can be used when something is echoing inside something.

          thank you for the response and clearing my doubt.
          for 寵児, if this is parsee, then would you change something in the translation to express it? as the current one gave me impression that 寵児 and “I” are not the same. I think “I” in “I cried…” is parsee since it showed in Ridil’s upload a illustration of parsee crying.
          I got a better picture of 響き渡れ now. still this “dake” bug me a bit, but i guess it’s supposed to means the XX is something very personal for 君 (Ah that’s why I came to the idea that XX is inside 君).
