非公式の英訳/Unofficial translation

We are here.
We know the word ‘love’
and, with fear, know everything.
In that way, we know that this world is ***.

We knew from the start
that we stood alone.
We knew from the start
that we were lonely.

Apart, I realise
the gap between myself and others
is something
I can never cross.

And what is so wrong about that?
If that is how we were born to be

then what could we have done about it?
If that is how we were born to be—

Hate and be hated,
resent and be resented.

We experience love.

We are here.
We know the word ‘love’
and, with awe, face the world.

We are here.
We know the word ‘sorrow’
and, with fear, face the world.

I attempt to answer the question,
to give the meaning of all the feelings
they have.

I attempt to answer the question,
to give that certain meaning, which exists
even distant from the world.

Yes, I do it so I can love
this eye of mine,
so I can sympathise with all those feelings.

Yes, I do it so I can mourn
this eye of mine,
so I can doubt the form I must take.

Love and be loved.
Understand and be understood.
This world

is so lovely (is so terrifying).

(My answer)
If the world is as unformed as this
then all I can do is love it.

(My answer)
If the world is as cruel as this
then all I can do is mourn it.

Let’s live with hope
with the words “I am here” in mind
since nobody can live without a place to belong.

I want to live with hope
with the words “I want to be here” in mind
so I can find a place to belong.

I am here.

I am here.

Ah, thank you so much Releska! This song was always so melancholic, I wondered whatever it could be trying to communicate. And wow…I really like how the differences in the way Satori and Koishi see the world are put on display here. It feels very befitting of both, and so I end up curious about the comic that this song is paired with. Thanks again! I appreciate it!

You’re welcome! I agree, the song puts forward a clear distinction between Satori and Koishi. RD’s lyrics are always so effective
