Okay, I’m being really nitpicky here, but come on RD! You can’t call this an etude! An etude (meaning ‘study’) is a piece designed for solo instruments, aimed at improving a particular aspect of a person’s playing. They’re generally really difficult, too. I still have nightmares about some etudes I’ve had to play on the clarinet…
So, anyway, putting that nitpicking aside, this is still a lovely song. It’s told from Layla’s point of view – it seems like she’s presented as the vocalist of the group? I like that interpretation of her character. It’d be nice if she could cameo in a manga someday…
Also, there’s a section when RD uses Italian musical terms (which are normally left untranslated). Merami sings the Japanese translation of the Italian terms.

1, 2, 3, 4…
My magic, and everyone’s voices –
I pray that, somehow, they can resound even more strongly.
Even if our ways of existing are different,
I won’t be lonely,
So I pray that, somehow, I can always be by your side
Continuing to sing.
I prayed that, someday,
We could play our first etude together
Just like this.
I want to convey it…
‘Calmly, with expression.’
‘Agitated, with force.’
And sometimes,
‘With love.’
If everyone will be by my side,
Then I won’t be lonely.
So I pray that, somehow, I can always be by your side
Continuing to perform.
I prayed that, someday,
We could play our first etude together
Just like this,
So resound! More and more!
I pray that I will always be by your side,
And that I can continue to perform.
I make all our voices become one,
So they will not disappear.
I prayed that, someday,
We could play our first etude together
Just like this.
That’s what I wanted to tell you…
