Update [Sept. 7, 2017]: Minor adjustments made

I don’t really want to spoil too much up here, so I’ll place my own personal interpretation of this song in the comments. I’d love to hear your thoughts, too!

非公式の英訳/Unofficial translation

Now
What should I think?
I feel a clear sensation remaining in my arms.

I look at that thing, fragilely crumbling away.
Did I see something inside myself alongside it?

If only I could remain as a simple young girl…
But once those wings have emerged, they’re almost like a curse.

My body grows lighter.
It’s as if I’m forgetting
About something important…

…Surely, I am ignorant of all but this way of life
If so, I hope I will not grow to loathe ‘this.’

…I’ll never beg for forgiveness, so I’ll never forgive anyone. Ah…

I’ll just stay strong and dignified.

Now,
I wonder what you’re thinking,
Though your eyes say “why me?”

The person
Whom you look at
Asks the same question.

I never wished for or wanted for anything…
So does this mean something has been stolen from me? I don’t know that either, do I?

“Never beg for forgiveness”
“So never forgive anyone.”
“Just be strong, so strong”
“For as long as you bear this name.”

The self that I wish for is not me, for I am right here.
But is this all I am? Who am I…?

I’ll forget all about
Those answerless questions.
After all, nobody else has the answer.

…So, I’ll be ignorant of all but this way of life
So I will not grow to loathe ‘this.’

Somewhere deep inside my heart
I cast something aside once more.
My heart grows lighter as I cast everything away…

…And thus, I will fly through the sky without being tied down by anything else!
Even if, say, I forget about what my tears mean.

…I’ll just be strong, so strong, as long as I bear this name. Ah…

Yes, I’ll just stay strong and dignified

Hello. Thank you for your translation.
Reimu depicted in the lyrics sheet is so cute! I cannot help grinning… (^౪^)

    > My body grows lighter, lighter than anything else…

I interpret 「何からも」 differently from you.
I would translate that part to “My body grows lighter, apart from anything else”.
If it were 「何よりも」 I would translate in your way.

You seem to have complemented 「――」 with 「軽い」.
「何からも軽い」 doesn’t appears to be common; Google search hits 0 with 「”何からも軽い”」 or 「”何からも軽”」.
Btw it hits 138 with 「”何よりも軽い”」.

One grammatical hint we can make use of will be a phrase 「そうして何からも縛られず、空を飛ぶ!」, 4th line from the bottom.
I interpret 「何からも」 in the same way as I do in the line, though I do NOT feel that complementing 「――」 with 「縛られず」 suit to the previous two lines 「何か大事なものを 落としていくように」.
If I should complement 「――」 with something, I would use 「離れていく」 or 「浮いていく」.
    Btw google search hits 50 with 「”何からも縛られず”」, 15 with 「”何からも離れて”」, and 2 with 「”何からも浮いて”」.

From semantical point of view, I think this stanza means “My body grows lighter, as if I dropped everything important”.

    —-
    > If so, I hope I will not grow to loathe it.

If we use “‘this’” for 「”これ”」 in 8th line from the bottom, I think we should use it here too.

    —-
    > So did ‘this’ steal something away?

The original lyrics says not 「”これ”」 but 「これ」, though it doesn’t necessarily mean 「これ」 is different from 「”これ”」.

How we translate will be depend on what we suppose 「これ」 refer to and how we interpret 「は」.
I would interpret that part as 「(望んだことや、欲しがったことが理由ではないの)だからこれ(=この状況)は何かを奪われた(から発生したものな)のか」
then translate it to “So does this mean I have something stolen?”.

    —-
    > This heart of mine is lighter, lighter than anything…

    If I should, I would compensate 「――」 with 「捨て去って」.

Thanks for the comment! I agree with the suggestions that you made – it clarifies the meaning of certain points of the song.

I was particularly interested in 何からも. I find it difficult to ‘fill in’ the end of incomplete sentences like this since I don’t have enough experience to know what should come afterwards. I guess sometimes you have to make a logical leap when you instinctively know what the song means…

Either way, thanks as always…! 🙂

I think that this song serves as a sort of ‘origin story’ for Reimu. She transforms from an innocent young girl to the Hakurei shrine maiden in a similar (metaphorical) process to an insect emerging from its cocoon. This explains the title, ’emergence.’

We’ve seen Reimu’s uncompromising attitude to youkai extermination in Forbidden Scrollery, so I think this song follows a similar theme. In the second half, Reimu confronts a youkai – the same youkai seen dying in the booklet image. The youkai asks ‘why me,’ but Reimu herself asks the same question. Why is she the Hakurei shrine maiden? What memories has she lost in the pursuit of her sacred duties?
