Translation

Time passes and the seasons shift, little by little.
Flowers bloom, are clad in their colours, then wither.

The clock’s hands make another round alone, cleaving through.
Today, once again, I am shaken by loneliness and sleep.

Only important memories remain in my heart.
In my palm is a warm flower that dyes me.
Though they wane, they do not wax. Though they freeze, they don’t melt. Even the droplets dancing and falling in my mind—
The sky is simply high. The moon is simply pure. Hazy clouds rest at my outstretched fingertips.

I’m in the middle of an endless journey that stretches into the distance in the dark
because I was saved by your eyes and smile from beyond the glass.

Time races and the seasons shift a little more.
People live, children are born, and it continues.

The sand clock turns, time and time again, endlessly.
All alone, I slumber enveloped by isolation.

The morning begins and the night ends. Keep walking.
In my clenched fist were petals that had already withered and fallen.

Like a taciturn signpost, whispered words disappear into the sky.
The twills of days and an endless dream held my trembling heart tight.

They say that only the tears that wet my cheeks will vanish into dew
yet I still advance towards tomorrow alone.

I longed for the shadow of that day, even if it’s just a dream.
I look over at a nostalgic voice calling to someone in the far distance.

Now, time passes and the seasons shift, little by little
though flowers bloom, are clad in their colours, then wither.

I hold a single bud, fleeting and brittle, close to my heart.
I pass down my tale of the past and an unchanging future. (1)

Translator’s note

(1) 未来 (mirai – future) is written, but 今 (ima – present) is sung.
