Hiding One’s Face

Vocals: ランコ (Ranko)
Lyrics: コンプ (Comp)
Arranged by: コンプ (Comp)
Album: 少女煉獄 (Maiden Purgatory) [Official site]
Circle: 豚乙女 (BUTAOTOME)
Event: C84
Original theme: The Lost Emotion [亡失のエモーション]

Requested by: ze

The title seems like it’s mainly used when someone’s hiding their face out of shame, but it’s also used when someone’s hiding other emotions, like anger, as well.

Translation

In a deep, deep, deep forest,
I wandered, unable to find the thing
I was searching for.

The trees grew thickly, stealing the light.
My vision grew dark – I lost my “hope.”

My demon mask rages,
but when I change its angle, it shows joy.
I can’t afford to lose a single one
of the human emotions I’ve had since birth,
or the karma that dwells within…

Within this long span of time,
my insatiable emotions took form
before I knew it.

Sometimes, I laugh, become sad, and sleep.
Each one of those emotions are everything – everything!

We snuggled up to each other on the path of love.
I was filled with malice on the path of the serpent.
We wounded each other on the path of carnage.
The stories held in each path
danced through karma.

My demon mask rages,
but when I change its angle, it shows joy.
I can’t afford to lose a single one
of the human emotions I’ve had since birth.
We snuggled up to each other on the path of love.
I was filled with malice on the path of the serpent.
We wounded each other on the path of carnage.
The stories held in each path
danced through karma.

  1. Thank you very much for the translate!

At first I was interested at this song because the melody is so emotional. Yeah, Kokoro with very emotional song! Sadly I don’t really understand the lyrics. I am glad you accepted my request. I didn’t play Hopeless Masquerade and only read the story through wiki. It’s look like this song helped me to understand more about Kokoro

    Once again, thank you!

    1. You’re welcome 🙂 Kokoro is certainly an interesting character! I’m not sure if it will help, but here’s what I think of the lyrics: I think the start of the song talks about Kokoro losing her mask of hope (before Hopeless Masquerade), and the rest of the song explains why she needs that mask – each one of her ‘masks’ (or emotions) is unique. I think the ‘path of love’ stuff refers to the different plays she’s been involved in.
